Having some fun with lens zoom.

We are just back from a weekend getaway to Lake Tahoe. The entire trip was worth the effort of driving all the way with my injured back as we had so much of fun and the weather was just made out for us. A perfect mix of sunshine and snow showers, but not so heavy. The place we stayed was at Harvey’s – A casino just at the border of California and Nevada state.

When the family was resting, I had gone down to the lobby to get some shoot done for an HDR view of the main lobby. I was worried whether somebody would object to me taking pictures, but to my surprise, nobody even bothered. In fact they were pretty cool with it. So I finished my shot at the lobby and headed back to the room through this hallway. The entire path seemed to deserted which is understandable; people would be either sleeping or at the casino. Since I had the 18-200 lens, had to try that zooming effect 🙂

Processing: There wasn’t anything much to do with this picture, other than to add some contrast and also I was too lazy to process it today. But I forced myself and this is the result. On any other day I wouldn’t saved the final one, but today I’m just forcing myself to post it.

1. Import the raw file into Lightroom and made some basic exposure settings.
2. Export the file to photoshop and corrected the lens distortion
3. Added a curves layer for contrast. Now I feel that the effect was too much, should have kept it little brighter.
4. Resized the image for web and added watermark.
5. A smart sharpen layer for web.
6. Added metadata and keywords in Bridge.
