Sunset Clouds near Bishop

Beautiful evening light over mountains and backwater of owens river near Bishop, CA

Bishop, a very small town at the foothills of eastern Sierras, has many locations that look so gorgeous when the right light hits them. One such spot is this area off hwy 6. The road is a dirt road and its better to drive slow if you don’t have good ground clearance. Most of the areas around Bishop has these sage brushes that just glow when back or side lit.

This is actually a vertical panorama – two horizontal images stitched in post. These days its so easy to stitch these shots and Lightroom makes is so simple. Occasionally it gets a bit messy which alignment of tress n leaves and requires a bit of manual blend, but 98% of the time, it gets it right.

For this particular show, I needed a bit taller tripod so that I could get most of the pond in the shot. Since I didnt’ have a tall tripod, I climbed on the roof of a 4runner and got this. Its been a while that I’ve given this spot another visit, but its due and hopefully soon.

In case you want to give this spot a visit, here is the exact location map from where this shot was made
